4A’s Celebrates 100th Anniversary with New Award, Event and Content Celebrating Its Members

Organization Calls for Nominations for the 100 People Who Make Advertising Great

NEW YORK—May 2, 2017—This year, to celebrate the 4A’s 100th anniversary, the organization will unveil new content and initiatives to celebrate the past century and look forward to the future. The 4A’s will work with several partners for these programs, including media outlets and member agencies.

One initiative—the Advertising 100—will honor the 100 rising stars and legends making extraordinary contributions to advertising. The 4A’s has opened nominations to agencies of all sizes and shapes here for consideration. The deadline to submit nominees for the 100 people who make advertising great is May 15.

Winners will be announced in June, featured in Adweek throughout the summer in a series of five special sections and then feted on Sept. 27 during a must-attend Advertising Week event at Cipriani Wall Street.

To reinforce 4A’s long-standing commitment to creating and nurturing a diverse talent pipeline for the ad industry, the event will serve as a fundraiser for the 4A’s Foundation, with proceeds benefiting the organization’s two NYC high schools dedicated to preparing students for careers in advertising and media.

“Naturally, we want to honor the past, but we’re also focusing on initiatives that support our core mission: to drive diversity and develop future talent in the ad business,” said Alison Fahey, chief marketing officer, 4A’s. “There is a way for every member agency to participate in the celebration.”

For one such initiative, 4A’s has joined with The Drum to present “Beyond the Brief,” an exclusive series delivering funny, insightful and poignant personal reflections about life in advertising from a cross-section of individuals at 4A’s member agencies. Members can submit their stories here. Submissions will be featured on the 4A’s website, and 100 member stories will be published by The Drum throughout the year.

In addition, 4A’s in April unveiled a timeline on www.aaaa.org created by 4A’s member agency R/GA that contains 80 famous moments. Members can now submit their own historic milestones for inclusion here.

In other content, 4A’s has launched a video series called “Behind the Scenes” that stars some of advertising’s best-known personalities recalling stories behind the greatest moments of the last 100 years of advertising.

Additional partnerships and content will unfold in the coming weeks. To keep up with other activities to support the 4A’s 100th anniversary, please visit: www.aaaa.org/100.
