Job Title: Art Buyer
Department: Production
Reports To: Senior Art Buyer - Production

Summary

Works closely with Creative Director to procure required art, coordinate pre-production planning and prepares for reproduction of all projects

Responsibilities

• Recommends to Creative the talents of photographers and illustrators that are appropriate for the execution of the agency's creative concepts under existing timetables and budgets
• Negotiates cost and timing with the artist's representatives for the best product within budget
• Coordinates pre-production planning and purchasing of art work (photography and illustration) and prepares for reproduction for all Direct Mail/Print projects
• Administers all related paperwork, PO's, invoices, releases, etc.
• Safekeeps artwork, photos and slides
• Supports leadership within department
• Complies to quality standards for the team as set forth by the department head
• Works with supervisor to foster innovative solutions
• Builds relationship at appropriate client/vendor level
• Works closely with upper management to identify and suggest solutions on how to improve departmental and team morale
• Keeps abreast of current trends and the latest technological advances
• Helps to elevate department's role in the whole advertising process

Tasks

• Gets bid on art required
• Gets quantities for Art Directors
• Gives estimate to Creative
• Gives estimate to Traffic to put in Estimate
• Gets client approval on art list and memo relating details of photo shoots/stock photography
• Purchases art
• Holds photo shoot
• Participates in weekly departmental staff meetings
• Keeps supervisor apprised of the status of work

Qualifications

• Good judgment and imagination to be able to make recommendations for the visual elements of an advertisement.
• Some Art education in advertising design and conceptual thinking
• Previous experience as an Art Buyer/Associate Art Buyer
• Must have 1+ years of experience within direct marketing or comparable industry
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Computer literate
• Team player
• Strong problem solving skills and detail oriented
• Minimum of a Bachelors degree or equivalent business experience preferred
