A recent study revealed that companies in the top quartile for gender or racial and ethnic diversity are 35% more likely to have greater financial returns than the industry average. And yet, research also shows that despite our best intentions, individuals inadvertently allow their unconscious biases – or thoughts – to influence their actions and behaviors in ways that can exclude and stifle diversity.
MEC sought to tackle this issue head on. During Advertising Week 2016, they launched the Brave Your Bias movement with a simple test to uncover individual biases that suppress inclusion. Revealing these biases is just the first step. Successful organizations provide the tools to recognize bias and the impact it has on decisions that affect the long-term inclusiveness of their business.
