Movin' On Up! Allen & Gerritsen Enters New Headquarters in Boston's Innovation District

Allen & GerritsenAllen & Gerritsen (a&g), recently ranked number one in the United States by Advertising Age as “Best Place to Work in Marketing and Media” for the second consecutive year and listed among the Best Places to Work in Massachusetts by both the Boston Business Journal and the Boston Globe, officially moves its 120 employees into its new corporate headquarters in Boston’s iconic Innovation District today.

Allen & Gerritsen’s move into Boston continues the wave of momentum the agency has experienced over the past year, coming on the heels of a number of recent wins, including landing relationships with national brands like City Year, Kamik, and Penn Foster as well as acquiring the client roster of former Boston-based agency Gearon Hoffman. Additionally, the new headquarters will expedite the company’s strategic growth plan to add as many as 50 new employees over the next several years.

The new space, consisting of more than 33,000 square feet in the Seaport Place East building, will capture a&g’s creative and dynamic energy through its inviting, energizing and inspirational design. The open layout will include a mix of private offices, conference rooms, amenity areas, digital broadcast rooms, open work environments, as well as a large café and catering kitchen. The concept was designed by Sasaki Associates, managed by Redgate Real Estate Advisors, and built by Commodore Builders—with close collaboration from Allen & Gerritsen CEO Andrew Graff.

“We are thrilled with how the Allen & Gerritsen project turned out,” said Victor Vizgaitis, Principal for Sasaki Associates. “a&g is one of the most innovative advertising agencies in the country, and we’ve created an environment that will sustain the energy of their business and will set the stage for their future growth.”

The Innovation District, on the South Boston waterfront, was created to attract clusters of creative people and companies to fuel the economic engines for the region. Allen & Gerritsen will take advantage of its Innovation District address to build on its strength as an independent agency for the next generation of marketing.

"Allen & Gerritsen is another hugely creative company moving to Boston's waterfront,” said Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino. “But they are more than that: a&g is a great champion for the Innovation District, for Boston's energetic workforce, and for their dynamic clients."

The Innovation District headquarters will be integral for the company’s business development, given the international range of the agency’s client roster. The agency delivers strategic and creative expertise ranging from broadcast and print services to the latest emerging technologies in digital, mobile and social media as well as brand experiences, media planning/buying and public relations.

Additionally, the Innovation District location will also allow Allen & Gerritsen to enhance its leadership within the Boston business community. The company is actively involved with numerous organizations, including the Boston Chamber of Commerce, the Ad Club of Boston, and MITX. The agency is also a longtime supporter of non-profits, including the Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester, Citizen Schools, and the The Sports Museum.

“Allen & Gerritsen’s move to the Innovation District is the culmination of years of planning, preparation, and hard work,” said Allen & Gerritsen CEO Andrew Graff. “We are beginning the next chapter in our history by moving into a vibrant environment where we can fearlessly innovate, create, explore and grow.”
