Chicago, December 5, 2012 – To further advance its expanding practice and competitive advantage in the fast-growing retail and shopper marketing arena, Draftfcb announced that Dr. Janet Rose has joined the agency in Chicago and will serve as Senior Vice President/Group Director of Retail Marketing Strategic Planning. Rose holds a PhD in American Studies with an emphasis in consumer and visual culture and comes to the agency after building a notable ad industry career that includes entrepreneurial stints as founder and co-founder of digital market research enterprises as well as agency senior management posts.

In her new role, Rose will be working on Draftfcb clients including USPS, Del Monte Foods and Coca-Cola, to name a few. In addition she will be developing an analysis and interpretation of the fresh insights emerging from a new Draftfcb study of mobile shoppers. The global study, encompassing 8,000 interviews across eight countries, is now nearing completion.

Rose most recently served as Vice President of Strategy & Planning at Saatchi & Saatchi X, where she spearheaded a 2012 Gold Effie win for Procter & Gamble's Always/Tampax.
Other P&G clients she worked on include Pringles, ZzzQuil, Cover Girl, Pantene, Olay, Gillette, Tide, Crest, Walmart and Treasury Wine. Earlier, while Senior Vice President/ Group Director of Strategic Planning at McCann Erickson, her clients included Kohl's, Staples, and GSK. As founder of The Rose Group, Brand & Market Strategy, her clients included Payless Shoesource, Birch Telecom, VF Corp. (Girbaud, Lee, Wrangler, Jantzen), Control Data and Digital Ocean. Early in her career she was co-founder of HeadLab Digital Market Research and co-founder/president of Flaspohler Rose Market Research.
A frequent speaker at leading industry forums on the social and cultural aspects of branding, and consumer and visual culture, Rose holds a BA, MA, and a PhD in American Studies from the University of Kansas (2001). She has participated in executive education studies at Harvard Business School and the University of Chicago, and has served as an Adj. Professor at the University of Missouri and as a lecturer at the University of Kansas. She currently lives in Chicago and is completing a book of essays about material culture in the digital age.
