Jack DeLeo and hfa Honored with Betty Dalton Community Service Award

Akron, OH (August 19, 2013) – Jack DeLeo, president and CEO of Hitchcock Fleming & Associates Inc. (hfa), a full-service Akron-based marketing communications firm, has been honored with the Betty Dalton Community Service Award, given by Greenleaf Family Center at its 22nd Annual Emerald Gala which took place Friday, August 16.

“We are thrilled to honor hfa at the Emerald Gala this year,” said Dawn Glenny Jones, president and CEO of Greenleaf.  “Under the leadership of Jack DeLeo, the team at hfa has donated an incredible amount of time, energy and talent to our agency over the years.  This makes Jack and hfa a natural fit to receive the Betty Dalton Community Service Award.”

The award is named for Betty Dalton, former Akron Public Schools Board of Education president who has dedicated her life to improving Greater Akron.  She was the first recipient of this annual award in 2003.

“Betty Dalton believed in taking community leadership as seriously as one’s job,” DeLeo said.  “At hfa, we feel the same.  That’s why we dedicate not only hours but passion toward projects that improve the lives of those who work, live and play in Akron.”

In addition to being a business advocate and partner to for-profit organizations, hfa provides many community-service nonprofit organizations with sound marketing solutions.  hfa’s impact on the community is evident with its long list of professional affiliations, pro bono support, and nonprofit volunteerism.  Since 2008, hfa has received more than 145 awards and was named one of the Top Workplaces in Northeast Ohio by the Cleveland Plain Dealer in 2013, for the second year in a row.

“Every day Greenleaf staff members continue to educate and assist community members, ultimately strengthening us as a whole,” DeLeo said. “Greenleaf has inspired hfa to continue to be a leader in philanthropic efforts in the Akron community, and I look forward to what the hfa-Greenleaf relationship will do in the future.”
