MEMPHIS, Tenn. (June 14, 2013) – archer >malmo recently received one of the advertising industry’s most distinguished honors, taking home a Silver ADDY® Award at the 2013 National ADDY Awards Show hosted by the American Advertising Federation. The Silver ADDY in the non-traditional campaigns category was awarded for the Memphis Redbirds “Poop Car” submission, which featured a parked car covered in fake bird droppings near a busy intersection in downtown Memphis near the baseball stadium with a sign that read, “The Redbirds are in town.” The car promotion was intended to excite fans and remind them that the Memphis Redbirds, a minor league baseball affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, were playing at home.
“It’s an honor to receive a Silver ADDY Award at this year’s National Awards Show, and it underscores the level of creative work the agency produces on behalf of clients such as the Memphis Redbirds,” said Gary Backaus, chief creative officer at archer>malmo. “It’s an exciting time to be part of the creative community here in Memphis.”
The National ADDY Awards were part of a three-step process, beginning with local awards ceremonies and 15 district awards ceremonies. The “Poop Car” campaign won “Best of Non-Traditional Campaigns” at the local Memphis ADDY Awards and a Gold ADDY in the “Non-Traditional Advertising” category at the District 7 Awards.
Memphis is in District 7, a portion of the mid-south including Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Southeast Louisiana. District 7 had the most national awards among the 15 districts this year with 34 professional and seven student awards presented.
