New York, NY—August 24, 2010—The Jay Chiat Strategy Festival, the world’s first international festival of strategic thinking, will be held October 11-13, 2010 in Miami, it was announced today by the 4A’s and its Strategy Committee.
Andrew Delbridge, chief strategy officer, McKinney, has been named chairman of the 4A’s Strategy Committee responsible for programming the Festival that recognizes the role of strategy in building brands, businesses and markets.
“As the advertising and marketing communications landscape continues to change, strategy has never been more essential to a brand’s success,” said Nancy Hill, President-CEO of the 4A’s. “We’re proud to launch the Jay Chiat Strategy Festival, and proud to have a strategist of Andrew’s caliber helm the Strategy Committee as it oversees this new Festival.”
During the two-day Festival of brilliant communication and strategic thinking, which features the theme, "The Future in Practice," Festival participants will get an insider’s view on how transformational thinkers find their inspiration and make things happen – from technology strategy, social media strategy, communications/media strategy and design strategy to for-good strategy, brand experience and research innovation.
The Festival will also feature the 2010 Jay Chiat Awards for Strategic Excellence. Open to brilliant strategic thinkers, including creative agencies, media companies, research organizations and more, the awards honor the best examples of strategic thinking from around the world. Nearly 50 judges from agencies and clients participated in the extensive judging process and short listed 51 finalists from 10 categories. Gold, silver and bronze winners will be announced on Monday, October 11, the opening night of the Festival; Grand Prix will be presented on Wednesday, October 13.

“In today’s market, strategy is about so much more than just advertising in the traditional sense," said Delbridge. "So our aim is to broaden the charter of the Festival and the Strategy Committee to reflect that. As a result, this year’s Jay Chiat Awards include a number of new categories that are representative of the incredible diversity of disciplines that now make up communications strategy.”
Content at the Festival will feature thought leadership and inspirational, interactive presentations across ten different strategy categories which reflect the transforming communications landscape. It will showcase thinking that has never been seen before – that has challenged convention, changed culture, or changed the world.
