Y&R Launches Podcast “Madison & Culture”

Biweekly Podcast Hosted by Global CEO David Sable to Explore Advertising, Marketing, Media and Creativity

New York, May 15, 2017 – A new podcast exploring the ways marketing and advertising both reflect and shape our culture is being launched by Y&R. Madison & Culture, hosted by Y&R’s Global CEO David Sable, will premiere new episodes twice a month and launches on May 16. Produced by DGital Media, the podcast will be available on Apple Podcasts and Google Play, Spotify (mobile), Stitcher, TuneIn, iHeart and other distribution outlets. Madison & Culture will delve into how the lines between commerce and culture are blurring, how culture shapes advertising and marketing and vice versa, as well as how technology is evolving and changing all these arenas.

These themes are frequently the subject of David’s pieces on the LinkedIn Influencer platform, where he was named one of their Top Voices 2016, and has consistently ranked as one of their most widely read global business leaders since he was first invited to participate in the platform when it was first launched.

The debut episode features Sable in discussion with GroupM Chairman Irwin Gotleib about how advertising interacts with the Internet of Things and the data and privacy issues related to the technology. Sable will be in conversation with guests from a wide range of fields, who will share their experiences and unique points of view on using creativity to connect with people. Upcoming episodes include Brian Jennings, the NHL’s EVP of Marketing; WPP’s Worldwide Creative Officer, John O’Keefe; Caryl Stern, President and CEO of the US Fund for UNICEF, and Pepperidge Farm Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Foley.

“I often say that in our business, creativity tells the story, innovation drives it to the right audience and technology enables it. The more curious we are about the world, the arts, technology — everything that adds up to culture — the more open we are to new ideas. I hope the guests on Madison & Culture, drawn from all corners of culture and commerce, will not only inform but inspire,” said David Sable.

Sable has been Global CEO of Y&R since February 2011. He first joined as a trainee in 1976 and credits his start at Y&R for both his passion for the business as well as his core skills. Sable is active in the industry as a Vice Chair of the Advertising Council’s Board of Directors and, for many years before, a Director-at-Large of the 4As. He has served as Jury President at Cannes three times. His blog The Weekly Ramble also features Sable’s thoughts on life, clients and the universe at large. He is also deeply involved in the philanthropic world and, among his efforts in that arena, serves on the Boards of the US Fund for UNICEF, the UNCF and the Christopher Reeve Foundation. Fast Company named him one of the Top Ten Most Generous Marketing Geniuses.

“We are happy to welcome David and Y&R to DGital Media’s growing family of influencers. Madison & Culture brings insights into our culture through his distinctive lens,” said Sue Kaufman, Senior Vice President, DGital Media.
