Deutsch NY Taps Karan Gera as SVP, Group Planning Director

Former McCann Worldgroup, Faith Popcorn’s Brain Reserve, and Y&R Brands executive joined April 1

April 13, 2021 — Deutsch New York has announced the hire of Karan Gera as SVP, Group Planning Director where he will drive the agency’s strategic thinking and lead the brand and creative strategy development for PNC Bank, building upon Deutsch NY’s 11-year partnership with the brand. A seasoned strategist with over 16 years on B2C and B2B brands, Gera will report directly to Deutsch NY’s Chief Strategy Officer, Matt Baker.

Gera is joining Deutsch NY after serving six years as McCann Worldgoup’s SVP, Director of Strategy, where he led one of their biggest clients, The United States Postal Service. His entrepreneurial approach and diverse team of strategists brought meaningful innovation to the brand, bringing about a digital transformation that led to a big lift in brand sentiment.

Prior, Gera’s extensive experience includes leading and mentoring teams on brands such as American Express, Citi, Pepsi, Aquafina, and Cover Girl. He was also a strategy lead at Faith Popcorn’s Brain Reserve, and had strategy stints at Y&R, Grey, Redscout and BBDO. Gera and his team’s insights helped lead to award winning work recognized at Cannes, Effie, One Show, Webby, Echo, Cresta, and others.
