Description

This role leads the Marketing & Communications practice addressing marketing & communications and events. The leader will develop and lead a comprehensive and dynamic marketing and communications strategy for the 4A’s including conferences and events. This includes promoting its value to member agencies, the advertising & marketing communications industry including marketers, prospects, ecosystem partners like related associations, and media companies.

Position Responsibilities:

Practice Area Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a fully comprehensive strategic marketing plan for the organization and mobilize the marketing & communications team to deliver with efficiency and flexibility
  • Ensure the 4A’s message and branding is strong and consistent in every marketing tactic, and that the story is professionally communicated with creativity and impact
  • Create and maintain a master content calendar to effectively manage all 4A’s communication messages (collaborate with practice area leads to ensure inclusivity)
  • Develop the content of 4A’s marketing materials and oversee the creative aspect
    • Ensure accuracy and consistency in messaging for all materials including member communications, presentations, publications, 4A’s conferences & events, collateral materials, executive communications, branding, etc.
  • Support EVP,  Strategy, Insight & Innovation addressing the Member Experience to express the 4A’s unique and compelling brand voice to key constituents via thought leadership opportunities
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to ensure that all communications are on target, distributed in a timely manner to the appropriate audience(s), and in the most appropriate communication format
  • Provide editorial advice and guidance to all practice areas of the association
  • Further develop and oversee 4A’s relations with the media, providing proactive, expeditious, and concise message delivery of the association’s services, activities, involvement in industry initiatives, events, and staff/ Board announcements
  • Lead creation, management, marketing, and stewardship of 4A’s conferences & events with programming support for 4A’s subject matter expert leaders as well as handling press relations and communications support leveraging PR agency
  • Support Strategic Partnerships team with conferences & events regarding deliverables and commitments as well as MarComms needs
  • Support 4A’s VP of Marketing & Communications with the leadership of the 4A’s Agency Communications Committee
  • Partner and lead the external PR agency to create a robust communications plan and ensure proper resource allocation and delivery of communication needs including strong relationships with the editorial community

Financial Leadership:

  • Oversee budget development and management of the marketing communications budget for the team and PR agency
  • Develop budget and deliver revenue for conferences & events to meet financial goals
  • Contribute to revenue growth through programs that support member retention and new membership as well as drive conference and event attendance

Team Leadership:

  • Oversee and provide leadership and guidance to the Marketing Communications team with the objective of developing a highly effective, organized, and professional support team for the association
  • Mentor and coach direct reports: VP, Director of Marketing & Communications; VP, Director of Conferences & Events; Executive Assistant
  • Support the growth and professional development of the overall team

Qualifications & Position Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience
  • A comprehensive network of industry connections, press, and related contacts who may be relied upon to extend the reach and messaging within and across the advertising and marketing community and beyond
  • A strategic leader with a deep understanding of traditional and innovative marketing strategies including events (in-person and virtual)
  • Thorough knowledge of marketing principles, digital marketing, brand, and business development
  • A business leader with success in leveraging social media to amplify messages and grow a brand
  • A change agent with strong decision-making skills
  • Heightened interest, passion, and curiosity in the industry overall
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to author documents on behalf of the 4A’s; strong communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated project management ability and stellar organizational skills
  • Exceptional management and interpersonal skills; a problem solver
  • Comfortable working both independently and within a team
  • Diplomatic, fair, and inspiring to staff
