Liquor store bags warn about risks of drinking on National Drink Wine Day

On National Drink Wine Day (2/18) and as pandemic alcohol sales soar, Colle McVoy helped nonprofit Proof Alliance launch an unexpected public awareness activation to get people talking about the risks of drinking any amount of alcohol while pregnant. In partnership with liquor stores, buyers of wine and spirits at more than 50 Twin Cities locations will receive their purchases in specialty paper bags with powerful graphic messages encouraging them to visit proofalliance.org/convo and talk more about fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).

This effort is especially poignant given that alcohol consumption has increased during the pandemic. In Minnesota alone, gross liquor receipts in 2020 increased about 20% statewide. It is more important than ever to ensure wine consumers — especially those who are pregnant or may be family planning — are getting clear facts.
