On the Cusp of Adulthood and Facing an Uncertain Future: What We Know About Gen Z So Far

As Gen Z reaches adulthood, Pew Research Center looks at how they are different from previous generations. The report also addresses how the coronavirus is impacting the Gen Z’s future.

Pew identifies the following characteristics of Gen Z:

 

  • More racially and ethnically diverse than previous generations
  • The best-educated generation yet
  • Similar viewpoints on many major issues of the day as Millennials
  • Republican Gen Zers have sharp differences with their elders
  • See family, societal change as a good thing
  • Differ in their familiarity and comfort with using gender-neutral pronouns.
