The 4A’s Goes Back to The Future of Advertising

2017 Revisited. For the 4A’s 50th Anniversary in 1967, Jim Nelson, of Hoefer Dieterich & Brown created this “Back to the Future” view of what the advertising industry would be like in 2017.

The film starts off with a nod to the “period clothing” of the 1960s as being somewhat of a fad in the future. Some predictions, like the five-day national holiday in honor of advertising and 12,000 employees being thought of as a small agency, were comical. Others, however, were quite prescient—like the industry trend towards corporate mega mergers, personalized media and targeting consumers based on their behavior.

We may be not be too far from “sense-o’vision”, after all.
