Carlos Martinez
President
Since joining Conill in 2002, Carlos has spearheaded its transformation from a Hispanic specialist agency into one of the most integrated multicultural creative shops in the U.S. Under his leadership, Conill has significantly expanded its business and earned high industry praise, including being named Multicultural Agency of the Year by Advertising Age in 2007 and 2011, and recognized in the publication’s Agency A-List Report for 5 consecutive years running.

A 20+-year industry veteran, Carlos began his journey at Saatchi & Saatchi in Puerto Rico, where he was responsible for developing integrated marketing and communications plans for multinational clients such as Toyota, Lexus and Procter & Gamble.

During his tenure as General Manager of Conill’s Los Angeles office, the agency extended its Toyota and T-Mobile businesses by nearly 400% and became Conill’s creative center of excellence.

Carlos is credited with leading the teams that made Toyota the number-one brand in U.S. Hispanic market and Puerto Rico. He is also leading the agency team that is committed to making T-Mobile irresistible to U.S. Latinos.

Carlos is a member of Saatchi & Saatchi’s Toyota Worldwide Executive Board, where he is responsible for ensuring best practices and improving communications between the global network’s U.S. Hispanic and Latin American operations.

Ana Rodriguez
EVP, Managing Director
Annie is responsible for strategic operations across the agency’s client portfolio. She was directly involved with the transformation of T-Mobile from a Hispanic market entrant into a serious competitor, contending for the #2 position in the category despite significantly lower marketing investment.

She is credited with two of the most successful Hispanic market automotive launches, with integrated communication efforts that substantially grew market share and earned industry accolades for Toyota’s Tundra and Camry.

Annie started her career at Premier Maldonado & Associates in Puerto Rico, where directed the planning, development and execution of marketing plans for clients such as: Unilever, CPC International, M&M/Mars, Walgreens and Sony.

In 1989, she co-founded Otro Marketing Approach Inc. (OMA), one of the most prestigious promotional firms in Puerto Rico. At OMA, Annie was involved in the development and implementation of direct consumer promotional programs for Procter & Gamble, General Mills and M&M/Mars, among others.

Gustavo Sarkis
Chief Creative Officer
Gustavo is the most recent addition to Conill’s management team.His award-winning career spans brands, regions and agencies, including creative leadership roles at MullenLowe, David&Goliath, Crispin Porter Bogusky and TBWA/ChiatDay in the United States, and Almap/BBDO in his native Brazil.

His impressive body of work has earned 14 Cannes Lions and numerous other accolades at such creative festivals as One Show, Clios, D&AD and the London International Awards for a wide-array of clients, including Volkswagen, Kia, Acura, Gatorade, Pepsi and Adidas, among others.

Under Gustavo’s direction, CPB’s campaign for Letgo helped propel the company from a start-up to a billion dollar brand. The Gunn Report ranked his “DogFish” commercial for Volkswagen as one of the 50 best car commercials of the last 50 years.

Brett Dennis

Brett has a laser-like focus in this external customer-facing role. He identifies new client partnerships that build upon our leadership position, understands future trends and evolving marketplace dynamics, mobilizes teams to build agency capabilities that capitalize on new opportunities for clients and creates conditions for our overall strategic growth. His combination of client and agency experience brings a well-rounded perspective to Conill's leadership team.

Before joining Conill in 2011, Brett was Global Media Director of Microsoft, where he oversaw the deployment of marketing strategies and investments for Windows Phone throughout the world. Prior to that, he was Director of Media and Branded Content for T-Mobile USA. While there, he grew brand preference from fourth to first among Hispanics and NBA fans, introduced media mix modeling to improve the effectiveness of media investments and reduced customer acquisition costs.

Brett has also held leadership positions on the agency side at shops like Young & Rubicam, J. Walter Thompson, Grey and Foote, Cone & Belding. He served on the Board of the Audit Bureau of Circulation and has won two Effies and was short listed for a Cannes Media Lion.

Chris Traina
Chief Communications Officer
Conillian in one form or another since 2005, Chris oversees public relations, internal communications, agency marketing and is the agency’s primary spokesperson. He also plays an important role in new business development and provides counsel on a range of business matters.

Prior to joining Conill, Chris was the principal of his own consultancy, Traina Communications, which provided strategic and tactical communications counsel to clients in the retail and professional services sectors. His areas of expertise include strategic communication planning, program creation, executive communication, reputation management, media relations, change communication and corporate branding.

Chris’ relationship with Conill began when he was VP, Director of Corporate Communications at Saatchi & Saatchi New York. He has also held leadership posts in the professional publishing units of Reed Elsevier and Times Mirror.

Laura Semple
Chief Strategy Officer
Laura was recently appointed Conill's head of strategy after spending 7 years pioneering the practice of content strategy across the agency's roster of clients.

Prior to rejoining Conill in 2012, Laura was VP, Director of Human Nature for Arnold Worldwide in Boston, where she led strategic planning for McDonald’s (National Breakfast, NY, New England, DC and Minneapolis regions), Progressive Insurance and Carbonite (back-up solution). She also worked closely with Engagement Planning, Media and Integrated Analytics teams to inform consumer journeys, engagement plans and ecosystems.

During her previous tenure as Conill’s Chief Strategy Officer through 2010, Laura was responsible for Hispanic market strategy of all clients. She was also a member of the Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide Xploring team.

Diana Stumvoll
Chief Media Communications Officer
As Conill’s VP Media Director, Diana helps ensure that clients are reaching the right audience on the right platform at the right time. She began her career at Univision more than 20 years ago, working closely with many of the pioneers in the U.S. Hispanic market. Univision gave her the opportunity to work in sales across a number of media platforms, from network TV to Univision.com—launching the latter as one of the industry’s first Hispanic players in the digital space.

With a successful sales career under her belt, Diana turned to agency life, helping Conill grow and develop its digital business in the U.S. Hispanic market with major global brands like Toyota. Then she shifted gears again, making big improvements in Microsoft’s Hispanic business over a three-year period before returning to Conill in her current role.

Above all, Diana loves a challenge.Her rare combination of deep sales experience plus deep agency experience gives her a unique perspective on media strategy, and she’s gained considerable insight during her years as a pioneer and evangelist for cable and digital in the Hispanic market. She has a startup mindset, and she thrives on growing a business from the ground up. In her personal time, she’s an avid equestrian and a self-described “health nut.”

Magaly Melendez
SVP, Finance Director
Magaly brings two decades of business insights to Conill. As a member of Conill’s Executive Leadership Team, she works closely with all senior leaders on agency operations, profitability, budget planning, procurement and contract negotiation. Her team oversees all financial policy, compliance and reporting at the agency.

Magaly also serves as Conill’s direct financial conduit to Publicis Communications North America’s finance team.

Prior to joining Conill, Magaly was Controller for Saatchi & Saatchi Puerto Rico, where she was responsible for the network’s Latin American regional financial planning, analysis and reporting. She has also held high-level finance positions at various public and private companies, including the Puerto Rico Traffic Safety Commission and Ernst & Young.

A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico with a BA in Business Administration / Accounting, Magaly is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Puerto Rico Certified Public Accountants Association. You can usually find her at her kid’s baseball and softball games.
