Overview
Company Summary
Six decades in retail taught us something most agencies never learn. Growth doesn’t start with a campaign; it starts with understanding what moves people to act. This is the foundation of everything we do at Bernstein-Rein, and we call it Retailigent™. Our approach combines analytics, consumer insight, and ideas that connect on a human level to accelerate real, measurable growth. Since 1964, our purpose has never changed. We exist to help brands grow better, and the ones ready for it find a partner fully devoted to making it happen.

Steve Bernstein
CEO
Steve Bernstein has spent nearly three decades building Bernstein-Rein into something uncommon in advertising: an independent agency where collaboration, curiosity and deep care for the work still drive every decision.
He is a respected voice on agency leadership, emerging marketing trends and the evolving role of independents. He was instrumental in creating CrowdPharm, an agile network of vetted creative and strategy talent focused on healthcare. He serves on the UMKC Board of Trustees, The Children’s Place and multiple Kansas City civic organizations.
He leads with conviction, warmth, and a belief that has never wavered: that the right team, given the right culture, will always find a way to make the work better.
Kelli Anstine
President
Kelli Anstine brings a sharp combination of analytical rigor and creative instinct to her role as President of Bernstein-Rein. She believes measurement only matters when it’s paired with ideas worth measuring, and that the best strategies start with real consumer understanding.
Across a 30-year career spanning retail, financial services, restaurant and entertainment, Kelli has built a reputation for uncovering the insights that make creative work perform. She encourages her teams to lead with curiosity and critical thinking, always tying investment to outcome.
Her leadership runs on tenacity, precision, and an unwillingness to settle for anything less than work that moves the needle.
Jason Courtney
SVP Creative Strategy
Jason Courtney leads creative strategy at Bernstein-Rein, working at the intersection of brand thinking and business performance. He believes the strongest ideas start with a diagnosis, not a deliverable, understanding where better growth lives before deciding how to get there.
Jason brings deep expertise in consumer brand strategies, service-based and B2B categories, and competitive positioning, with a particular focus on helping brands sharpen their point of view in crowded markets. He’s a vocal advocate for creative frameworks that are rigorous enough to guide work and flexible enough to inspire it.
His thought leadership reflects the same Retailigent philosophy that drives the agency: get close, think clearly, make it matter.
