The Federal Trade Commission’s leader has confirmed he will be speaking at the 4A’s Decisions 20/20 conference as intense debates over privacy and data rumble on.
Noah Phillips is at the heart of a government discussion on how the data used in marketing and advertising should be more tightly regulated. He will be a notable figure bringing together legislators and advertisers as officials fine-tune any new laws that could come into place.
It comes as Oregon’s senior U.S. senator proposes prison time and huge fines for companies or executives who contribute to data breaches like the recent Facebook and Equifax cases.
Marla Kaplowitz, president and CEO at the 4A’s, said: “The 4A’s is delighted that Commissioner Phillips will be with us at Decisions 20/20 as we seek to better understand Washington’s POV on consumer privacy issues.
“The industry is addressing the need to fuel federal legislation to create a level playing field for both consumers and industry players. His participation will provide valuable insights to drive a more focused and considered effort on the part of all industry constituents.”
Phillips will be taking part in a fireside chat with Stu Ingis, Chairman of Venable LLP.
Decisions 20/20 is taking place in Washington D.C. over March 25 and 26.
