Social media today moves faster than ever, where information from the real (and sometimes AI-generated) world spreads across platforms at a pace far too fast to keep track of. In this session, Jon Morra, Chief AI Officer at Zefr, and AJ Brown, Chief Operating Officer at the Brand Safety Institute, will explore the evolving challenges of maintaining brand safety and suitability in this high-speed environment. They’ll discuss how AI can power deeper content understanding and how AI agents can help brands stay ahead of global events that influence online perception.

Jon Morra – Chief AI Officer @ Zefr
Jon Morra is the Chief AI Officer at Zefr, a company focused on understanding social media content for brand advertisers. In his role he leads machine learning, data science, and content policy. Prior to this role, Jon was the Chief Data Scientist where he helped create and implement a variety of machine learning models to understand YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook content. Before Zefr, Jon was the Director of Data Science at eHarmony where he helped create many of the matching models using machine learning. Jon has a Ph.D. from UCLA in Biomedical Engineering, and a BSE also in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins.

AJ Brown – Chief Operating Officer @ Brand Safety Institute
A seasoned leader at the intersection of trust & safety and digital advertising, AJ Brown serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Brand Safety Institute. As COO, AJ orchestrates BSI’s operations across its editorial, educational, and partnership endeavors, and aims to leverage his expertise to help marketers more effectively navigate brand safety & suitability on platforms.

Prior to joining BSI, AJ was Head of Brand Safety and Ad Quality at Twitter, charged with delivering a positive advertising experience on the platform by serving high-quality ads in brand-safe environments. AJ joined Twitter in 2016, and led or played a key part in company milestones including the development and enforcement of civic integrity policies, enhancements in transparency, and most notably establishing Twitter’s Brand Safety practice. His work to promote responsible monetization at Twitter aligns perfectly with BSI’s mission to continuously drive a healthy and sustainable advertising ecosystem.
