Deacon co-founded the NYC based advertising agency Walrus in 2005 with his wife Frances, and oversees the agency’s creative output. Over the past 20 years the agency has worked with many of the world’s most well-known brands including Amazon, General Mills, PayPal, Walmart, Colgate Palmolive, HBO, Mars, and The Economist. The agency is a four-time AdAge Small Agency of the Year winner. His work has appeared in all of the major industry shows, including ADC Young Guns, D&AD, The One Show, Cannes, Communication Arts, and the Effies.
He spent most of his pre-Walrus career at the agency Mad Dogs & Englishmen where he began as a junior copywriter. During his 11-year tenure, he opened and led their San Francisco office before returning to New York to become became partner and chief creative officer of the agency’s head office. He is a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, and a member of the Pomfret School class of ’91.
