This survey focused on helping the industry collect important salary data for planning purposes. The results of this survey provide 4As members with reliable and statistically relevant information regarding actual salary increases in 2022 and planned salary increases for 2023.

Participation

A total of 149 agencies across 172 agency offices participated this year. Forty-nine agency respondents are network agency (holding companies) members, representing 28% of total respondents. One hundred and twenty-three respondents are independent agencies, representing 72% of total respondents.

The report includes categories of increases including merit, market adjustments and promotions.  Also included are;

  • Percentage ranges of actual 2022 salary increases
  • Planned percentage range increases for 2023
  • Respective budget impacts
  • Frequency of increases
  • Time intervals between increases according to various salary ranges

New in this Year’s Report

This year’s report includes participants’ responses to new questions added to our questionnaire. These questions provide information on the following:

  • Market conditions driving elevated compensation levels for new hires
  • Departments which required higher compensation for new hires
  • Comparisons of 2023 planned salary increases vs 2022 actual increases
  • Budget comparisons of salary increases for 2023 vs. 2022 actual increases
