Budget Reconciliation Bill with Modified Tax Provisions Passes the Senate, Heads to the House

On August 7, the Senate Democrats held together to pass the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, a $739 billion health care, tax and climate bill, in a significant victory for President Joe Biden and his party. The final, party-line vote on this budget reconciliation bill was 51-50, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie. It includes approximately $433 billion in new spending, and roughly $300 billion of new revenue raised toward paying the nation's deficit.
