Outsourced Accounting, Fractional CFO, and M&A Support Built Exclusively for Agencies

Areas of Expertise: Financial Planning, Agency Operations, M&A

John Callandrello is the founder and CEO of Agency Financial Management, a finance and accounting firm built exclusively for agencies. AFM currently supports 25 agencies representing more than $300 million in combined fee revenue. Across his career, John has worked with more than 75 agencies representing over $1 billion in revenue.

John helps agency leaders connect their financial results with the operational decisions that drive them. His work brings together accounting, forecasting, utilization, staffing capacity, pricing, project performance, client profitability, and cash flow to give leadership teams a clearer view of where the agency is performing well, where margin is being lost, and where risks are beginning to develop.

His career began inside a growing public relations agency that lacked the financial infrastructure needed to manage the business effectively. John built the timekeeping, reporting, forecasting, and profitability systems that allowed its leadership to connect the work being delivered with the revenue and margin being generated. Other agencies began asking for the same support, and that work eventually became Agency Financial Management.

Today, John and his team provide outsourced accounting, controllership, and fractional CFO services designed around the systems and operating model each agency already uses. Rather than imposing a rigid financial framework, AFM brings together data from the general ledger, timekeeping platform, resource plan, project estimates, CRM, and other agency systems to create practical, decision-ready reporting.

The objective is not simply to produce accurate financial statements. It is to help agency leaders answer the questions that determine performance: Are we staffed appropriately for the revenue we have committed? Which clients and services are generating acceptable margins? Are utilization and pricing supporting our profit targets? When should we hire, reduce capacity, or reconsider the economics of an account?

John also advises agencies through mergers and acquisitions, including sell-side preparation, buy-side diligence, quality of earnings support, working capital analysis, transaction structuring, and post-close financial integration. His perspective is grounded in a simple reality: an agency’s value is established long before a transaction begins through the quality of its earnings, reporting, operations, and financial infrastructure.

John is based in South Florida and works with agencies throughout the United States.
