AC/DC 50th Anniversary

Nothing says 50 years of hard rock like a giant gold record spinning a-top the famous River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires. This larger-than-life idea is now live in the form of a digital piece of social media content designed to celebrate seminal hard-rock band AC/DC’s 50th anniversary as one of the most iconic rock bands in the world and promote the release of the band’s first nine titles from its colored vinyl reissued series.

Created in partnership with agency SuperHeroes and its JIMMY creative collective, and promoted across AC/DC’s Instagram and TikTok channels, this energetic post has garnered over 6 million organic views and over 300,000 likes and shares in less than 4 days. Another piece of content is already underway.

Created by Gabriel Benicio, an upcoming digital street artist from Brazil, in collaboration with SuperHeroes and the AC/DC team at Sony Music, the film uses CGI to digitally transform the top of River Plate Stadium into a giant turntable. The film opens as the needle drops on a stadium-sized gold record and the familiar AC/DC chords and chorus of “Thunder” play. The city of Buenos Aires is seen as the film moves away from the record and a plane flies by pulling a banner that announces 50 years of AC/DC.

“It’s not every day you get to work with a legendary Rock band to create content that is as big and impactful as the artists,” explained Rogier Vijverberg, Chief Creative Hero at SuperHeroes. “AC/DC fans have seen it all, so our challenge was to create something that spoke to them, stopped their thumbs in their scrolls, and reflected the impact of the band. The results show that this film scores on all counts.”
