ESPN’S Nate Silver Joins WPP’S Sir Martin Sorrell on Speaker Docket for 4A’s First Annual Data Summit

New York, NY – September 18, 2013 – The 4A’s has added ESPN’s Nate Silver to the list of headliners at its first annual Data Summit on October 16 in New York.

Silver, a statistician and author, first gained national attention during the 2008 presidential race between Barack Obama and John McCain when he correctly predicted the results of the election in 49 of 50 states. Founder of the political blog, FiveThirtyEight.com, he was also the basis for the character played by Jonah Hill in the 2011 film, “Moneyball.”

“The addition of Nate Silver, Fast Company‘s No. 1 selection of the 100 Most Creative People in Business 2013, is another high-profile complement to our speaker agenda, which already includes Martin Sorrell,” said 4A’s President and CEO Nancy Hill. “Like Sorrell, Nate’s work has influenced practically every sector— from business to politics to sports to technology and beyond—and we can’t wait to see what he imparts on our audience of marketing and advertising execs.”

Sorrell, Worldwide CEO of WPP, kicks off the summit with a “data call to arms,” morning keynote. Silver will speak in the afternoon about what poker, presidential elections and sports have in common in the era of Big Data. The 4A’s Data Summit takes place at Florence Gould Hall (55 East 59th Street).
Other executives leading the charge in social, mobile and programmatic trading will share insights on the current state of Big Data and weigh in on what they believe will be the next major inflection point. Theresa LaMontagne, Managing Partner, Senior Practice Lead, Analytics and Insight at MEC, will serve as the event’s Master of Ceremonies.
